Date and walnut cake

Sweet for the Gods from Noreen Sousa via Yolanda Guterres

2 eggs
1¼ cups light brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup | ½ lb | 225 g butter (melted)
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup dates chopped
1 cup walnuts chopped

Beat eggs till light yellow. Add sugar gradually while beating. Add vanilla essence. Add flour mixture and butter alternately. Fold in chopped dates and walnuts. Pour into greased shallow pan and bake until light golden brown.
